Semper Tri and Devil Dog Duathlon - Aug 2, 2014

Pre-Race Packet Pick Up Available Thu, Jul 31

Endurance House has graciously offered to hold a pre-race packet pick up at their Oceanside location on Thu, Jul 31 from 3:30pm–7:00pm. We encourage all participants to attend to help shorten lines on race morning. You can turn in your race waiver and pick up your race gear (bib, timing chip, t-shirt, swim cap) prior to Saturday's event! A limited number of race entries will also be available for $80 each.

During the event, Endurance House is offering all Semper Tri & Devil Dog Duathlon participants store discount on select items: 20% off of nutritional items and 10% off of all other items in store (except bikes). Just show your race bib to get your discount!

Please remember to bring a photo ID and your signed race waiver to the event in order to get your race gear. If you are planning to pick up for another person, please have their signed waiver and a copy of their photo ID with you.

Triathlon Course

500 meter swim off of ACU-5 Camp Pendleton. The average water temperature for this event is 68 degrees, we advise wearing wet suits. The out and back 30K bike ride leaves ACU-5, follows Stuart Mesa Road North, and continues east to a turnaround point on Las Pulgas Road-moderate hills throughout. 5K run is a loop course through ACU-5. This run is flat and fast with a few easy inclines. Aid Stations will be located at the transition area, at the bike turnaround and every mile on the run course.

Duathlon Course

Duathlon begins with a 2K out and back beach run. The out and back 30K bike ride leaves ACU-5, follows Stuart Mesa Road North, and continues east to a turnaround point on Las Pulgas Road-moderate hills throughout. The 5K run will be a loop course through ACU-5. This run is flat and fast with a few easy inclines. Aid Stations will be located at the transition area, at the bike turnaround and every mile on the run course.

Schedule

Registration (if available) bib, swim cap, chip and t-shirt pick-up will open at 5:30am. Waves will begin at 7:30am.

There is a $5 discount for all active duty military not stationed aboard Camp Pendleton. All active duty military stationed at Camp Pendleton race at no charge due to our base readiness and resilience efforts.

Transition Area

The transition area is assigned racking by waves. Transition area opens at 6am. There is no riding in the transition area or over the transponder mats.

Results, Awards, CG’s Cup points and Photo Information

Results posted and updated throughout the event. Awards ceremony for top 3 overall male and female will take place at approximately 11am. Division awards must be picked up the morning of the race – awards for top 3 in each division will be available for pick-up after 11am.

If you are unable to pick up your award, please contact the race office the week after the race to make arrangements for your medal to be mailed ($10 fee). The last day to have your medal mailed to you is Sep 2, 2014. Final results will be posted by Friday following the race day.

Race counts towards the USAA Commanding General’s (CG) Cup Points for active duty Camp Pendleton participants. CG’s Cup points are updated two weeks after the race. If you have any changes or questions regarding the points, please submit them within four weeks after the event.

Rules

Certified bicycle helmets are required – Base Requirement, no exceptions!
Wetsuits are optional (but are advised)
USAT rules will apply - No drafting
Minimum participation age - 13 yrs
Absolutely no headphones/ear buds allowed
Working or service dogs only.
Event held rain or shine (unless deemed unsafe)
Pendleton Races has the right to modify the course if necessary for safety or base training exercises
If event is cancelled, you will have the option of transferring your entry to another 2014 event (excluding the World Famous Mud Run®)
Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable
Liability waiver must be signed by all participants on race morning (waiver download available next to registration link)
All riders must be off the course by 11am

Directions

From I-5, exit Camp Pendleton - Oceanside/Harbor Drive and enter through the main gate. Once on base go straight for a mile and make a left on Stuart Mesa/Ash Road and then follow “RACE EVENT” signs to ACU-5. Bring a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and vehicle registration. Allow 30 min from the base gate to the race site. When aboard the base, please follow all posted speed limits.  Bring a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and vehicle registration for yourself and a valid ID for all passengers.
